According to police, the preliminary investigation shows that at around 9:15 p.m. Monday, April 15, Williams was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Briley Parkway. He then called his sister while walking away from the scene and reportedly uttered an expletive prior to the phone going silent.

Williams’ sister reported him missing on Friday, April 19 after she was unable to contact him. Using Williams’ cell phone data, detectives found his body lying on the eastbound side of I-24, about 20 feet from the edge of the pavement down a slight embankment, according to investigators.

Police said it appears Williams died after a hit-and-run crash, so crash investigators responded to the scene. There was no evidence at the scene indicating Williams was standing/walking when he was hit. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
