Body found in Miguel Bay, deputies investigating

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Manatee County Sheriff’s office is investigating how a body ended up in Miguel Bay.

The body was first spotted by a boater on Saturday near Rattlesnake Key, but the current washed it away before deputies could get there.

Deputies searched for the body by air and on the water, eventually finding it along the shoreline of Rattlesnake Key on Sunday morning.

The condition of the body was described as “badly decomposed.” There is no word on the person’s identity, their gender or how long they were in the water.

A medical examiner will identify the cause of death.
