Body found inside burning car in Clearwater hotel parking garage

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A body was found inside a burning car in a Clearwater hotel’s parking garage early Wednesday.

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a car fire just before 2:30 a.m. at the Edge Hotel on South Gulfview Boulevard.

The car was found burning on the third floor of the parking garage.

After firefighters put out the flames, they said they found a man dead inside the car.

Arson investigators were called to the scene.

Clearwater homicide detectives determined that the incident was an apparent suicide. They said the man set the car on fire and then shot himself. They don’t believe the man was from the area.
