Birthday boy arrested after stepson allegedly stabbed at party

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man celebrating his 66th birthday was arrested early Monday morning after police say he stabbed his stepson.

Jesse James Davis of Hernando, Mississippi, was arrested at home in the 2200 block of Pratt Street in South Memphis and charged with aggravated assault. The victim was transported to the Regional One Medical Center in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they saw Davis and the victim arguing right before Davis grabbed a knife and stabbed him.

Davis told police while he was enjoying some alcoholic beverages at his birthday party, his stepson entered the house and threatened to assault everyone.
