Beardsley Jr. High students raise thousands for fellow students in need

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Beardsley Junior High set a goal to raise $4,500 to buy shoes for students in need in January. The school actually exceeded their goal and raised $6,400.

The funds raised will allow the school to buy 110 premium pairs of shoes and 16 pairs for the school’s Comfort Cave, which also provides clothing and hygiene products for students.

But they’re not finished yet.

Beardsley is hosting its second annual “Basic Needs Drive” for suppliers for the Comfort Cave. They are asking for soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine products, shampoo and conditioner.

Items can be dropped off at the school, located at 1001 Roberts Lane, beginning May 1st.
