Badly decomposed leg, skull remains found in Rankin County pond

Flowood Police Detective Sean Haddakin told the Clarion Ledger more human remains were discovered by police Monday in a Rankin County pond, the day after a leg was found.

Haddakin said authorities recovered skeletal remains of a skull during a Monday morning search of a pond near Mangum Road.

According to Haddakin, the investigation began when the Flowood Police Department received a call around 7:15 p.m. Sunday from fishermen about an object which appeared to be a human leg in the pond.

Haddakin confirmed to the Clarion Ledger the leg was the lower portion of a leg bone and foot. The "badly decomposed" human leg reportedly still had a sock on it.

Haddakin said investigators are unsure how long the leg was in the water.
