Aston to Build Zagato Speedster and Shooting Brake
Last year saw the debuts of the impossibly pretty Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato coupe and drop-top Volante, and now, Aston is extending the family. Today, Aston Martin revealed both the Vanquish Zagato Speedster and Shooting Brake before their in-person debut at this weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. They are, unsurprisingly, gorgeous.
Unfortunately you might never see one. Aston Martin plans on building 99 Shooting Brakes and just 28 Speedsters, bringing the total Vanquish Zagato count up to 325 cars when production is scheduled to end next year. All of the Speedsters have been sold, but it sounds like you might still be able to get a shooting brake if you act quickly.
The Vanquish Zagato is based off the Vanquish S, which means all models get a 5.9-liter 580-hp V12 and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Like the coupe and Volante, the Speedster gets all-carbon bodywork, including "speed hoops" behind the passenger compartment designed to evoke Zagato's trademark double-bubble roof. Interestingly, there's no roof to speak of either - not even a temporary cloth cover.
Like the Speedster, Shooting Brake - which Aston hasn't yet released more photos of - is also a two-seater, though it gets a large luggage compartment. Aston will even throw in custom luggage designed to match the interior.
Aston Martin also released some photos of the Vanquish Zagato Volante in production form, and well, just look at it.
