Arrest made after two antique bells stolen from historical society

NESQUEHONING, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say two antique bells were stolen from a historical society.

According to the Nesquehoning Police Department, on April 6 officers were called to the Nesquehoning Historical Society for a report of two antique bells stolen.

Police say one bell was over 300 years old, weighing over 1,400 pounds and the other was over 100 years old, weighing over 200 pounds.

Woman accused of hit-and-run crash in Walmart parking lot

Through further investigation, Luiz Ocasio of Hazleton was identified as one of the suspects involved in the theft. Ocasio was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and vandalism.

Officers noted the investigation is ongoing pending further identification of the remaining suspects.
