Application process for TSA’s PreCheck is open for residents

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Mid-Michigan residents can enroll today until Mar. 29, in the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA), PreCheck application program at the Capital Region International Airport.

TSA officials say the PreCheck program allows travelers to leave their shoes on, keep light outerwear and belt, keep food items in carry-on bags, keep laptops in their case, and their 3-1-1 complaint liquid/ gels bag in a carry-on, in select checkpoint screening lanes.

More than 200 airports participate in TSA PreCheck nationwide with dozens of airlines participating. Officials say about 99% of travelers are eligible for TSA PreCheck and wait 10 minutes or less to be screened at airports nationwide.

“TSA PreCheck is a great way to make your travel experience more efficient and enjoyable,” said Nicole Noll-Williams, president and CEO of the Capital Region International Airport.

“We`re excited to host this TSA PreCheck pop-up event and give the local community an easy and convenient opportunity to enroll in the program right here at the Lansing airport.”

TSA officials say travelers should pre-enroll and make an appointment online. The temporary enrollment center will be held in the airport community room.
