Annual Research Festival to be held at Concord University

ATHENS, WV (WVNS) — Concord University’s annual Research Festival will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024.

The Research Festival, hosted by Concord University’s Department of Social Sciences, will be from 9:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024.

The event is a way to recognize research done by students and show the work they do, and from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. research presentations will be held in State Room of the Jean & Jerry L. Beasley Student Center.

There will also be a keynote speaker, Dr. Erik Augustson, who will speak from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A student poster session will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. there will be a graduate school fair in the Ballroom.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Erik Augustson, is the Vice President of Programs at the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World. He oversees management and oversight of the Foundation’s global grantmaking portfolio. He was an essential part of the leadership and development of Smokefree.gov, which is a large-scale U.S. Department of Health and Human Services program.

West Virginia State Math Field Day to be hosted by Concord University

Faculty members from different programs and departments are welcome to advise their students to get involved in the event to show things that they have been working on.

Some of what the students worked on includes class projects, Honors projects, lab projects, graduate projects, term papers, independent research, and other projects that involves using research methods that work with their field.
