Amber's mum hopes to help families create memories

A mother whose daughter died from terminal cancer hopes to help other families create memories and cherish "every moment".

Amber's Army was set up in memory of Norwich City fan Amber Sheehy, who died on 14 January 2023 - an hour before her ninth birthday - from cancer.

Celebrities including Danny Dyer and Calum Best will play in a charity football match at King's Lynn FC at 15:00 BST on Sunday.

Amanda Sheehy said: "Being able to help other families is just so rewarding. It just makes her death not in vain."

The charity works with Norfolk families who have a child diagnosed with terminal cancer, and help them create memories and point them towards emotional and financial support.

"It has given me a purpose... Being able to help other families is just so rewarding. It just makes her death not in vain. Not a second goes by that we don't think of her," said Ms Sheehy.

She added that is was about "knowing we can help other families to create those memories and cherish every moment" and making it so that "when their child sadly passes, they don't have the regrets the same as us".

Ms Sheehy said Amber loved celebrities and football, and she was sure there would be signs from her daughter during Sunday's match.

Amber played for Horsford FC's under-nine girls' team and was Norwich City's Fan of the Season for 2021/22.

About 1,000 tickets have been sold for Sunday's game, which will see actors, reality television stars and YouTubers take to the pitch.
