New airport terminal priced at $1.6M, construction may start in June

With members of the Ashland County Airport Authority Board present Thursday, the Ashland County Commissioners approved two motions to help fund construction of a new airport terminal.

“This project will be an enabler of that,” said Airport Authority Trustee Tom Zupan on the economic advantages the new terminal would provide. “The new facility would include provisions to house a flight school.”

The terminal would be 3,868 square feet, replacing the the 800-square-foot building at a proposed construction cost of $1.6 million. Construction would begin in June, with a completion date in spring 2025.

“It would be a huge economic boom for the community to have a school located here,” said airport board Trustee Steve Bechtol.
