Achieving Kidical Mass

Mar. 23—Excitement filled the air at Summit Park in Albuquerque on Saturday morning as roughly 100 families gathered for the Kidical Mass ABQ ride from the park to Green Jeans Food Hall, where the Pedals & Petals Bike Garden Party was taking place.

Founded in June 2022 by Meredith Scott and her husband, Josè Luis Cardenas, the Albuquerque chapter of Kidical Mass is part of a worldwide network whose mission is to ensure bicyclists of all ages can navigate the roads safely.

Kidical Mass ABQ has had more than 2,000 participants take part in its bike rides, with the cyclists ranging in age from 1-year-olds to adults in their 70s, according to Scott.

"We all come together, share out experiences, make connections and friendships," Scott said. "I think that's what is really special about the rides."
