3 SC Whataburger restaurants set to open in 2024. Here’s when and where

Whataburger has announced when its three Midlands restaurants will open and also that two more restaurants will open in 2025, in Lexington and Columbia.

The store at 1185 Dutch Fork Rd in Irmo will open this summer.

Officials broke ground last Friday for the Columbia location at 202 Bridgeberry Lane and expects to open it in the fall.

The Lexington location at 888 S. Lake Drive will open in late fall.

In addition, Whataburger has announced it will open two more restaurants in South Carolina in 2025, but has yet to confirm when or where.

At the Columbia groundbreaking, Whataburger officials gave $5,000 to EdVenture Children’s Museum Columbia. A news release said, “the donation is part of Whataburger’s flagship charitable program, Feeding Student Success, which aims to serve students at the intersection of food insecurity and education.”

“We’ve had the pleasure of meeting with many wonderful leaders and community members across South Carolina over the past months, and locally in the last few days,” CEO Ed Nelson was quoted in the news release as saying. “We’re deeply grateful for the love and support we’ve already received, and we can hardly wait for the day when we can introduce Whataburger to Columbia. We’ll be here soon!”
