3 arrested in Florida shooting that killed teen, injured 3, deputies say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Three men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Pompano Beach late last month that killed a 16-year-old boy and injured three other people.

A group of people were standing outside of a business at 1780 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd about 5 p.m. on March 25 when multiple people approached them and started shooting, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

John Zetrenne, 16, of North Lauderdale, was found injured, lying on the sidewalk outside the business when deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said. He died at Broward Health North.

Three adult men were also injured: Emmanuel Francois, 31, of Lauderhill; Petenson Nicolas, 30, of Pompano Beach; and Elijah Gustave, 21, of Pompano Beach. All arrived at a nearby hospital in a private car, the Sheriff’s Office said. They were expected to recover.

Facing charges are Christan Moore, 21, of Lauderhill; Devonte Lowe, 18, of Pompano Beach; and Kyle Robinson, 19, of Pompano Beach. The Sheriff’s Office did not release information about their investigation leading to the arrests.

Moore was arrested first on April 6 by the Pompano Beach Crime Suppression Team, followed by Lowe and Robinson who were arrested on April 7 by Sheriff’s Office’s Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response detectives.

Moore, Lowe and Robinson are each facing one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, jail records show. They are held in the Main Jail as of Tuesday.

Attorney information was not available Tuesday afternoon for Lowe or Robinson.

“We’ve entered a plea of not guilty, and we stand by that plea,” Moore’s defense attorney Johnny McCray Jr. said. “My client maintains his innocence, and we believe, once the dust settles, that’s going to be supported by the evidence.”
