2 teens shot, one critically, after broad daylight gunfire erupts outside NJ school

Two teens were shot — one critically — when gunfire erupted outside a Newark high school in broad daylight Tuesday, cops said.

A 15-year-old victim and a 17-year-old boy were hurt when the shots rang out steps from West Side High School on South Orange Avenue near South 14th Street around 2:45 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

Both teens were taken to University Hospital, where the older victim was listed in critical condition, police said.

The younger victim’s condition was considered stable, according to authorities.

The circumstances leading up to the violence were not immediately clear.

Police also could not immediately confirm whether the teens were students at the school.
