17-year-old suspect wanted in connection to Philadelphia shooting arrested in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A 17-year-old teen wanted out of Pennsylvania on charges of attempted murder and firearms violations was arrested on Tuesday in Alexandria.

The teenager was the fourth and final suspect wanted in connection to a shooting incident at a Septa bus stop in Philadelphia on March 6 in which eight juveniles were injured.

The Associated Press reported that the victims ranged in age from 15 to 17 and were high school students.

They were waiting to board a city bus after class at about 3 p.m. when multiple suspects jumped from a car and opened fire at them. Two of those students were critically injured.

Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) from Philadelphia and Alexandria went to an apartment in the 700 block of Seaton Ave. at about 12:15 p.m. on March 19. USMS investigators believed the 17-year-old suspect was hiding there with a woman who had ties to Philadelphia, according to a USMS press release.

Investigators found the suspect there, who complied with USMS commands and was taken into custody.

“I hope this final arrest brings some comfort to the student victims of this senseless crime. No child should have to fear for their safety while receiving an education and I hope these arrests can subside that fear,” said Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force.
