$150K stolen during Tracy jewelry store heist

(FOX40.COM) — Eight people are suspected of stealing jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from a store inside a mall, according to the Tracy Police Department.

At approximately 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, police said the department received reports of a robbery in progress at Don Roberto Jewelers at the West Valley Mall.

Police said eight suspects entered the store, used hammers to smash glass displays and took approximately $150,000 in jewelry before fleeing the area. Police said the eight suspects were waring face masks during the robbery.

As the suspected thieves were seen fleeing the area, police said witnesses reported a solo vehicle crash involving a stolen white BMW SUV occupied by four of the accused robbers. The crash happened near the east entrance of the mall near Corral Hollow Road, police said.

Police said the four suspects involved in the crash fled on foot while the other four were able to get away.

Police said officers were able to appended the four suspects who fled on foot after they were located in the perimeter with the help of Stockton Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

The four suspects arrested were two 21 year old’s, a 23 year old and a 19 year old and are from different parts of the Bay Area.

They are booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and are facing the following charges: Organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and robbery by force or fear.
