A 15-year-old boy died days after he was struck by a car on the way to school.

The boy, identified as Braden Davis by Fox affiliate WAGA, died on Friday, March 29, at the hospital. His death came nine days after he was struck near South Cobb High School, the Cobb County Police Department said in a Facebook release.

Police said the driver was crossing the roadway at a green light around 8:42 a.m. local time when Braden stepped in front of the car’s path.

The Cobb County School District previously told WAGA that the victim was a student who was hit while walking to school.

Braden, who would have turned 16 on Friday, April 5, was an organ donor and his mom believes he will now help at least 70 people.

"We went into the operating room when they did everything, and we talked to him until his heart stopped beating," mom Emily Little told WAGA. "We told him how much we loved him and how proud we were of him."
