12 arrested in joint shoplifting operation between Myrtle Beach, Horry County police

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Twelve people were arrested, including two fugitives, in a joint shoplifting operation between Horry County and Myrtle Beach police.

Horry County police said in a Facebook post Monday that the investigation yielded the recovery of “several” thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

“The law enforcement community in Horry County collaborates closely on a daily basis to keep our residents and visitors safe,” Horry County Police Chief Joseph Hill said. “One recent joint operation led to 12 arrests. Perhaps more importantly, the operation demonstrated the power of teamwork to get to the root of a problem. We want criminals to know we won’t rest until they face justice for their actions.”

The 12 arrested face the following charges:

  • Gregory Ray, 33, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was charged with unlawful games and betting, swindling and operating without a business license.

  • Jeremy Graves, 37, of Thomasville, North Carolina, was charged with unlawful games and betting, swindling, operating without a business license, resisting arrest by giving false name, giving false information to law enforcement and manufacture, distribute or possession of a schedule 1 narcotic.

  • Tirck Friday, 26, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was charged with unlawful games and betting, sale or delivery of a pistol and possession by certain persons unlawful, swindling and operating without a business license.

  • Marcus Melton, 26, of High Point, North Carolina, was charged with gambling, swindling and operating without a business license.

  • Rueben Turner, 45, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with trespassing.

  • Shannon Garlock, 35, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with shoplifting $2,000 or less.

  • Jimmie Ates, 52, of Myrtle Beach, was picked up as a fugitive from Texas.

  • Carrie Elliott, 50, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with shoplifting $2,000 or less.

  • Shardae Davis, 35, of Sumter, was charged with shoplifting/enhancement $2,000 or less.

  • Anfernee Bradley, 27, of Sumter, was charged with second offense driving under suspension.

  • Allesha Robert, 26, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with shoplifting $2,000 or less, possession of cocaine and manufacture, distribute or possession of a schedule 2 narcotic.

  • Michael Uher, 43, of Myrtle Beach was charged with shoplifting $2,000 or less.

“Public safety is a shared responsibility and in Horry County, we certainly work together to make a difference,” Myrtle Beach Police Chief Amy Prock said. “This operation is another example of the dedication of our law enforcement professionals and business community in fighting crime in our area. We will hold those accountable for their actions.”
