1 person injured, 1 taken into custody after shooting in south Austin Thursday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person was injured and another was taken into custody after a shooting in south Austin Thursday afternoon.

The Austin Police Department said officers were carrying out a warrant in the 2300 block of Wirtz Avenue Thursday when an unrelated shooting happened around 1:48 p.m. in the area.

One victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a suspect was taken into custody.

Police did not say what charges the suspect was facing, if any, or what led to the shooting.
