1 killed in Knox County ATV crash

A 25-year-old man from Altona, Ill., was killed Saturday in an ATV crash in Knox County, according to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened shortly after 10:45 p.m. on the 2800 block of Knox Road 900E, the release says.

The release says his passenger, a 19-year-old Cambridge man, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, then Life Flighted to OSF Peoria with life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary information indicates the ATV was traveling through a field and struck an embankment, where it came to an immediate stop.

Names were not being released Sunday pending notification of family.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. No other information was available Sunday.
