Man dead after shooting outside Bellevue apartment complex

BELLEVUE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities are investigating a Friday night shooting that left a 37-year-old man dead outside of an apartment complex in Bellevue.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting was reported at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Friday, April 19 in the 6900 block of Highway 70 South.

A preliminary investigation indicates 37-year-old Dorsey Moorlet had just left the Forest Park Apartments and was on his way to work when he returned to retrieve an item he forgot, officials said.

Detectives said Moorlet was found outside an apartment after witnesses heard gunfire. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

The motive of the shooting remains unclear. No suspects have been taken into custody at this time.
