1 dead, 1 in critical condition after Maury County crash

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating a head-on collision in Maury County that left one person dead and another critically injured Thursday morning.

The Maury County Fire Department said it was notified shortly before 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 4 about a two-vehicle crash in the 1400 block of Tom J Hitch Parkway.

When units arrived at the scene, they said they found one driver “entrapped and deceased” and another driver in critical condition who was already out of their vehicle.

Officials said they requested a helicopter from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which landed at the Maury County Office of Emergency Management’s landing zone.

According to the fire department, crews spent an hour and 45 minutes at the scene, removing the remaining driver from their vehicle, clearing the extensive debris from the road, and handling fluid leaks on the road.

Driver injured after rollover crash in Franklin

The Maury County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbia Police Department reportedly closed Tom J Hitch Parkway for about three hours to allow the crash investigation and cleanup efforts to take place.

Fire officials said Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating Thursday morning’s collision. No additional details have been released about this incident.
