Brian Gaskill is opening up about his shocking exit from The Young and the Restless

The 54-year-old soap actor took to social media shortly after making his last appearance as Seth Morgan on the Tuesday, March 5 episode of the show, during which his character was unexpectedly killed off.

After fans expressed their shock over the abrupt end to his character's story, Gaskill confirmed that his time on the soap series is officially over with an Instagram post to recap his experience on the series, which began earlier this year.

"Between social media and the Internet in general, news travels ridiculously fast these days ...so…yeah, that happened...," Gaskill captioned his Instagram post on Tuesday, while urging his followers, "If you haven't seen yet, please watch... I hear Los Angeles might be preempted... so check out Paramount+ or look for Times."

Despite his quick run on the show, Gaskill said, "I had a great time on Young and the Restless with the producers, directors, publicity department, and other actors."

"And it was incredible to see so much support from all of my friends on social media, who have been following along over the years… " added the soap opera veteran, who has also appeared on a slew of other hit dramas, including Port Charles, The Bold and the Beautiful, As the World Turns, Guiding Light and All My Children.

"So grateful for all of you," Gaskill concluded to his fans in the Instagram post. "Now let's see what comes next..."

Gaskill's post seemed to squash any hope that his character could somehow return, despite one fan's theory that his character could have "an identical twin" who continues on the show.

But most of his followers accepted the news of Gaskill's final bow on Young and Restless, including one fan who commented, "I'm so sad that it's already over...I was so excited to have you on my screen again."

"Truly enjoyed the depth you poured into your character and the emotional impact… sad to see you go!! 😢," another fan added, while others were already looking forward to "whatever comes next" for the actor.
