You Can Carry Some of Michelle Obama’s Post-White House Style — for About $1,000

Though they have left the White House, the American public (and the world at large) still has a burning desire to see former President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama. We also find ourselves trawling through Instagram feeds when we hear Malia Obama may have gone to a party, or running to Twitter when footage of their vacations surface. Now, the world has gotten a new dose of the couple — photos of them leaving a lunch during their New York City visit.

Though their offices are no longer shaped like ovals, the Obamas have a lot of business to attend to. They have a foundation as well as individual record-breaking book deals. Many hope they are also planning some sort of resistance to the current president’s attempt to dismantle their legacies, but we’ll leave that conversation for a political blog. While they are doing all that, they have been looking quite stylish.

Embodying the vibes of the rich, carefree aunt and uncle that everyone seems to have, the two headed to lunch with Bono in business-casual garb. Michelle kept it chic but professional in a sleek grey coat, slim black trousers, a heel (noticeably higher than those she favored in the White House) and a black, white, and gray color-blocked blouse. She set it all off with a $950 Alexander Wang “Attica” chain satchel with rhodium.

The look was certainly fit for a relaxed work lunch but was infinitely stylish, as she continued to support American designers. Her top button undone (Barack copied the style trick) and her hair blowing free, Michelle seemed to have no cares in the world. For anyone who has posted photos after a breakup to show your ex you’ve moved on to better things, the sight was surely a familiar one.
