YMCA at Virginia Tech hosting Healthy Kids Day, encouraging health and well-being for kids

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR)—The YMCA at Virginia Tech is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day, a national initiative to improve the health and well-being of the community’s kids at the YMCA Lancaster House on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Healthy Kids Day is a free ‘summer kick-off’ event that will include a fun run, enrichment activities, fun-filled games, interactive demonstrations, and a healthy focus on family life. The event will also be promoting local summer programs and activities to encourage consistent mobile activity.

“It is so important for kids to stay active over the summer, both physically and mentally,” said Laureen Blakemore, Director of Community Engagement.  “At the Y, we believe in providing resources for families to create healthy habits, no matter the time of year. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free communitywide event that encourages families to take advantage of all the great summer activities the NRV community has to offer.”
