Wisconsin's Iconic Trollhaugen Ski Area Reopening For 'Bonus Days'

Trollhaugen Ski Area struggled through one of the warmest winters in Wisconsin's history, and finally threw in the towel on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

Troll then hinted at reopening for 'bonus days' if a few winter storms delivered enough natural snow. They announced this morning, March 26th, that enough snow has fallen, and that the ski area will reopen this coming weekend. See below.

Troll's daily snow reports are turned off for the season, but a quick glance at their Instagram feed shows that at least 10-12 inches of new snow has fallen over the last seven days.

Say what you want about small ski areas, but the convenience of being able to open multiple slopes with minimal help from Mother Nature is quite nice.

Trollhaugen will welcome skiers and riders back for three consecutive 'bonus days' on Thursday, March 28th-Saturday March 30th.

The entire mountain won't be open, but 8-12 trails and two terrain parks should provide enough fun to last throughout the end of the week.

Troll has made these bonus days very appealing to skiers across the region. Lift tickets are just $35 for Thursday and Friday, and just $45 for Saturday. Not too shabby.

Can we take a second to appreciate the "little guys" like Trollhaugen?

There are still dozens of mom and pop ski areas scattered across the country that operate in a similar way to Troll. They value guests, they make the most out of what Mother Nature give them, and ultimately -- they love skiing.

You can feel the passion of Troll's employees with each social media post. They are genuinely stoked to be able to reopen the ski area, even if only for a few days.

How many western skiers do you know that would get fired up about sliding down a 200 foot hill at the end of March?

Congrats to the fine folks at Troll for getting the mountain back open. You're an exemplary group for "Keeping The Vibe Alive". Bravo.
