Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially have his father's blessing.

While Trav's dad, Ed Kelce, previously gushed over his first meeting with the pop star, he's kept a tight lip on his opinion of their highly-publicized romance–until now.

"I just think it's great," Ed told ET Online. "They're two wonderful people and they are enjoying each other's company and supporting each other."

According to the football dad, the two work because they share a similar work ethic and can embrace the most authentic version of each other.

"I think they are two very, very driven professional individuals," he shared. "I think they're very supportive of each other, which is key."

"This is a rough time for either one of them to have a relationship," Ed went on, explaining that dating for either of them could otherwise be difficult, "She's in the middle of this ginormous tour, he's knee deep [in the NFL season]. At least he takes his just as serious as she takes hers as far as commitment to their craft."

Yet, Ed has no qualms with the Grammy winner, who he called "very genuine," adding, "She's been performing for huge crowds longer than she hasn't, over half her life. And for someone to be so grounded."

Ed suggested that Taylor's commitment to her craft may even be one of the reasons his son fell for her in the first place–even if it meant he couldn't shoot his shot with the pop star the way he wanted (his original plan apparently included a friendship bracelet outfitted with his cell number).

"I think she's very committed to that," Ed shared of the "Wildest Dreams" songstress. "And I think Travis supports that. And I think she realizes how committed Travis is to sleep, 10 hours a day, when your body is going through this kind of thing. So I think they're both very supportive."

"I think they're a wonderful couple," Ed concluded, hinting that should their budding romance develop into more, he's fully supportive. "I think they deserve a great friendship with each other, and if it ever goes to more than that."

As for the rest of the family, well, Taylor seems to be thick as thieves with all those important to the NFL star, including his mom, Donna, and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of his teammate Patrick Mahomes. Though she hasn't met everyone just yet, as the Kansas City Chiefs tight end's brother Jason, nor his girls have spent time with her, but Ed's sure his granddaughters will "flip" out the first chance they get to meet her.
