Why not adopt on National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day in Fresno?

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Valley Animal Center in Fresno is inviting residents to take part in National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.

Animal Adoption Supervisor Ruben Cantu says about 16 cats and dozens of cats are available, but over 60 dogs are on the shelter’s site.

“We still have some of those dogs either waiting for surgery, waiting to finish treatment, or just waiting to get through their process with us before they’re available,” Cantu said. “But we encourage everybody to come down and take a view at our kennels and see what we have on site.”

Cantu says adoptions can be made in person or through the center’s website and that all that is required is for potential pet parents to fill out a questionnaire.

“We just want to make sure that we’re pairing you with the right animal,” Cantu said. “The best thing to do is start asking questions.”

Adoption fees for puppies are $200, kittens are $120, and any dog or cat over the age of six months has already been paid for until the end of the year by a sponsor’s donation.
