Whoopi Goldberg calls for Trump comment on Ahmaud Arbery shooting death: 'You need to say something, sir'

As outrage continues to grow over the shooting death of a 25-year-old unarmed African American man, Ahmaud Arbery, The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg weighed in and questioned why President Trump hasn’t spoken out publicly.

A now-viral video appears to show Arbery jogging in a Georgia suburb when he was confronted by two armed men in a pickup truck—a confrontation which left Arbery dead.

“Because I’ll tell you—if two black men had been in a truck and watched a white guy go by and just got out and shot him, we’d hear no end to what an outrage it was. We’d hear that from the top,” said Goldberg. “You need to say something, sir. You need to say it and you need to say it pretty soon.”

Fellow panelist Sunny Hostin also expressed her outrage at the President’s silence on the issue.

“He can tweet about everything else — he can tweet about fake news, he can tweet about late night talk show hosts, but he can’t offer his thoughts on this?” asked Hostin. “This is despicable. Despicable. When does it stop?”

Viewers took to Twitter with their reactions to Goldberg’s call for comment from President Trump, and some said she was spot on:

But others disagreed and said no comments from Trump are necessary:
