Whistler Picks Up Nearly 30 Inches Of New Snow

Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia, saw another moisture-laden winter storm in what's proven to be an excellent month for skiing and riding.

The Canadian resort shared this morning that 40 inches of snow have fallen in the past two days.

The new snow is cause for celebration and caution.

"With this much fresh snow, we want to remind everyone to please be cognizant of tree well hazards. Always have a buddy within eyesight when you're in the trees, take your time, and be sure you have Patrol's number saved in case of on-hill emergencies," Whistler Blackcomb wrote in an Instagram post sharing the news.

Outside the resort, Avalanche Canada currently forecasts "high" avalanche danger.

Earlier this month, Whistler Blackcomb was blasted with a massive storm that deposited multiple feet of snow.

The turnaround in skiing conditions has been dramatic.

During the first half of winter, images and videos circulated on the internet depicting soggy and snowless conditions at Whistler Blackcomb. Further south, near Vancouver, British Columbia, lower-elevation ski resorts like Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour dealt with even more challenging weather.

Looking ahead at Whistler Blackcomb, conditions are expected to make a turn for the warm and springy midweek, with above-freezing alpine temperatures possible. The warm temperatures shouldn't be too much of a setback with all the snow the resort recently received, though.
