  • NSYNC’s Joey Fatone joined Celebrity Wheel of Fortune on Sunday, November 7.

  • Fellow contestants and Boyz II Men members Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris seemed to know the rules better than Joey.

  • When Joey lost one of the puzzles, some blamed cohost Pat Sajak while others blamed the NSYNC star.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune is back in the limelight and, after Sunday night’s episode, it has people talking.

As a refresher, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune is just like the classic competition game show, only the contestants are celebrities and the winnings go to the charities of their choice. On November 7, NSYNC’s Joey Fatone joined Boyz II Men members Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris to battle it out for the winnings. The problem was, Joey didn't seem to be super familiar with the rules of Wheel of Fortune — an issue that cost him from earning extra cash for his charity.

It all began during a round of "Before and After," when cohost Pat Sajak began to explain the rules to the celebrity contestants and used an example to illustrate how the puzzle works."It'd be ‘Wanya Morris and Morris the Cat. Then we'd put them together. Just an example," Pat said.

When it came time for Joey to fill in the blanks of the puzzle — which ended up being “Stretch Mark Wahlberg" — the NSYNC star recited his answer as “Stretch Mark, Mark Wahlberg,” presumably trying to follow Pat's lead. Of course, this was incorrect and Joey ended up not winning the round. Because of the way Pat demonstrated the game, some fans are blaming him for Joey’s misfortune, and the fact that his charity, the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center at the University of Kentucky, is subsequently missing out on more donations.

"Umm, Pat made a mistake that prompted Joey to say Mark twice. Pat said Morris twice as an example and Joey followed Pat’s example. So, wheel of fortune should add more to Joey’s charity - Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center at UK," one fan tweeted. "When Pat explained that kind of puzzle, he said it the way Joey answered, just sayin…," another said.

That said, others are steadfast in the belief that Joey should’ve known the rules of Wheel of Fortune before coming on show. "Has Joey Fatone never watched Wheel of Fortune before?" a different fan tweeted. "Does no one take responsibility anymore? This is how the category has worked for decades, and it is pretty clear 'Mark' isn’t up there twice. It’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but why blame Pat?," someone else said online.

Whichever way you see it, one thing’s for sure: It’s unlikely that another celebrity will make Joey’s mistake after watching him miss out.
