Sofía Vergara

Sofia Vergara is not a fan of people trying to mock her English, and she just proved a major point by clapping back at an interviewer who tried to call her out about it.

In recent video footage, the America's Got Talent judge visited Spanish-language talk show El Hormiguero in Spain, when host Pablo Motos seemingly made a dig at her accent, mocking the way she said "Modern Family."

In the midst of Vergara discussing her 11 seasons on the hit ABC sitcom, Motos interrupted her mid-sentence, sarcastically cutting in with, “How do you say Modern Family?”

The Four Brothers actress seemed a bit perplexed upon first hearing the question, but once she understood the host was attempting to poke fun at her, she immediately responded by expertly clapping back, as only a true professional could.

“I say it wrong?” she asked, before quipping, “Oh, because you speak better English than me? Ah.”

The Hot Pursuit star was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, with Spanish being her native tongue.

Though Motos seemingly began to walk back his comment by subtly switching topics, Vergara wasn't going to let the opportunity to put the interviewer in his place slip by after the unnecessary jab.

She snapped back to the inquiry by throwing out some of her credentials, asking the talk show host, “How many Emmy nominations do you have in the United States?” and “How many times did they nominate you at the Golden Globes?”

To be clear, Vergara received four Emmy nominations for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in Modern Family, in addition to four Golden Globe noms, so it was pretty bold of someone to attempt to call her out in a public forum in this manner. Simply put, the proof is in the pudding!

Up next, Vergara steps into the character of real-life drug cartel leader Griselda Blanco for six-part Netflix miniseries, Griselda. The crime-drama hits the streamer on Thursday, Jan. 25.
