Winter on the North Shore officially kicked off earlier this month when we saw Koa Rothman and John John Florence surfing Rocky Point during the first swell of the season.

But the North Shore is truly emerging from its summer slumber thanks to the huge swell hitting this week with waves reportedly reaching 25 feet tomorrow with a "fair to good" rating for Pipeline.

In the spirit of the notorious lefthander, here's some throwback footage of all-time Pipeline 10 years ago.

Yesterday, "Nalu TV," a streaming platform dedicated to classic surf flicks, posted the video above.

It's captioned: "2013 Larry Haynes RAW Water Footage"

Nalu also listed the video's all-star cast of surfers "out on a beautiful day at Pipe." They include John John Florence, Nathan Florence, Koa Rothman, Ivan Florence, Jamie O'Brien, Eli Olsen, Nathan Fletcher, Aamion Goodwin, Mikey Red, Parker Coffin, and more getting barrel after barrel at Pipe.

Haynes, who shot the footage, was a beloved surf cinematographer and member of the North Shore community. He passed away in February of this year from a heart attack just minutes after surfing Laniakea, a longboard spot located between Waimea Bay and Haleiwa town.

The video might get you dreaming about getting pitted on the North Shore, but before booking a last-minute trip, review Koa Rothman's tips for surfing and surviving the North Shore.

One of them is: "Don't even try to surf Pipeline. It's not worth it."

So press play on the video about for around nine minutes of some of the world's best surfers surfing one of the world's best waves.
