According to hospital officials, the stick horses were designed by Cleveland Clinic Children’s patients.

Families had the chance to place their bets ahead of the race, and according to hospital officials, it ended in a photo finish, with Dr. Brad Marino just barely taking the win.

The event included horse-themed activities and games, and patients could treat themselves to some sweets.

Despite there being no real horses at the race, hospital officials say the Cleveland Clinic Children’s therapy dog, Trotter, did make an appearance.

Looking forward to the real deal? The 150th Kentucky Derby kicks off Saturday, May 4 at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
