Want coffee in Tequesta? Check out these seven places where espressos and lattes reign

TEQUESTA — Kelly Adams has a countertop view of how Tequesta, whose population has long trended toward retirees and senior citizens, is growing younger.

She owns Bunk House Coffee Bar, which sells flavored lattes — lavender, caramel and golden milk flavors, among others — and vegan snacks. She opened its Tequesta location on March 1 and estimates 90% of her customers there are 35 years old and under.

Adams' stores — there's another one in Jensen Beach — feature plant-based and dairy-free products, which tend to attract a younger population, but she thinks there are other reasons, too.

“People are seeking connection,” Adams said. “Coffee shops are a really great place for that to evolve naturally. I think there's plenty of room for even more coffee shops to open up. The more, the merrier.”

There are seven coffee shops — five of them independent businesses and two chain stores — within Tequesta's two square miles. Residents have noticed that as more young people are moving to the village, so are coffee houses where they can work remotely and meet more of their neighbors.
