Walmart Is Selling a 'Beautiful' $11 Table Lamp That's So Similar to a Pottery Barn Style 29x the Price

Walmart has really been bringing their A-game when it comes to home decor recently. From elegant hanging planters to gorgeous wicker baskets, you can now easily find all your home goods needs at Walmart and save quite a bit of money in the process. Their most recent win is a table lamp that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also looks so much like a Pottery Barn lamp that’s over $300 (and Walmart’s is barely over $10).
The lamp in question is the Mainstays Mini Ball Base Table Lamp from one of Walmart’s home brands. It’s currently $10.97 if you purchase it without an LED included (which is the most common option in-store) and measures 12.5 inches tall and 6.25 inches in diameter. As the name suggests, it has a large off-white base in the shape of a large ball that looks like it’s made of wood or stone.

There’s nice gold hardware connecting the base to the screw for the lightbulb and the lampshade is white. The screw is “compatible with a standard medium screw base (E26) light bulb”; the lamp also has a 5-foot chord.
The Mainstays ball base lamp is marked as a best-seller and has a “popular pick” badge to really hit home how much people like it. You know, if 231 reviews and 4.6 stars didn’t convince you. Shoppers love how well the lamp goes with their decor and how useful it is in their homes.
"Cute and practical," one shopper titled their review of the lamp. "This is such a cute little lamp! Goes with any decor. I bought it for my coffee bar and I just love it. Would be great also as a nightstand lamp. Gives off great lighting too."
Another reviewer wrote that they’re “so happy” with their Walmart Mainstays lamps and had to wait while they were restocked to buy more.
“I was waiting for them to come [back] in stock and had to snag 2 as soon as I got the notification!” they wrote. “They go beautifully on our nightstands. So happy with my purchase!!!"

On its own, it seems like Walmart’s lamp is a keeper. But another perk is the fact that it looks a heck of a lot like Pottery Barn’s Gleason Ceramic Table Lamp. This lamp is a whopping $319 and has a nearly identical design to Walmart’s lamp. The main difference is that it’s twice the size; its ball base has a 13-inch diameter and it measures 22 inches tall. It has a 6-foot chord and works with a standard lightbulb (“100W Type A”) or LED equivalent. Also, while Walmart’s lampshade is a little more narrow than the ball base, Pottery Barn’s lampshade is wider than its base.
With a lamp twice the size and with Pottery Barn’s quality involved, it makes sense why their ceramic table lamp is more expensive than Walmart’s. However, being a 29th of the price—and having an $11 price tag—Mainstays Mini Ball Base Table Lamp is a pretty great deal and worth a shopping trip. Especially if you’ve been looking for a gorgeous little lamp to pull a room together.
