Volunteers in full force for St. Peters’ Clean Streams Day
ST. PETERS, Mo. – It was a busy Saturday morning in St. Peters as volunteers took time to clean streams in the area that may have been littered with unsightly debris.
It was all part of the city’s “Clean Streams Day.” This was a the 24th edition of the event, which began back in 2000.
Teams worked to clean up trash from Spencer Creek and Dardenne Creek.

Justin White, the Director of Field Operations for the City of St. Peters says the work is important to keep the city clean and clear.
“It’s just a good time of the year to get out, when the weather’s nice, to get into the streams, and get a lot of the litter that gets down in there,” said White. “It makes things look nice, and also raises a little bit of awareness that whatever you dump on land ends up in the streams.”
White says special Boy Scouts and Girl Scout troops also helped out with the work. He says the event had a social feel to it, with all people there to help accomplish a single goal: To clear the streams.
After the cleanup, volunteers were treated to donuts, juice and water.
