Video: Large Tiger Shark Bites Standup Paddler’s Board

Tiger sharks are notoriously aggressive.

According to A-Z Animals, they rank second on the shark scale of aggression, “behind the great white, in recorded human fatalities having attacked 138 humans which includes 36 fatalities.” And they’ve been chiefly responsible for the recent incidents in Hawaii.

But this next guy, he found himself right in the path of a tiger shark’s prey. One could say, he was in between a rock and a hard place...or a tiger shark and a turtle.

Here’s his narration of the incident:

“Tiger shark! Turtle! It’s a showdown. And I’m right in the thick of it.

“Oh no. Holy sh*t. This is intense. They’re underneath me. Both the tiger and the turtle are underneath me. Oh…I don’t know if I’m in the best position right here.

“I’m between the tiger and the turtle.

“Uh oh…”

Then, wham. The tiger shark chomps down on his standup paddleboard, sending him into the water (and potentially the shark’s mouth), but the video ends before anything else dramatic goes down. It’s presumed everything turned out okay.

The video comes from YBS Youngbloods, which appears to be an ocean adventure channel. Sorta like a modern Steve Irwin (RIP). According to their YouTube page:

“YBS is all about enjoying the ocean, nature and everything above or below by being selective and sustainable. Join Brodie Moss and the YBS crew as they share their adventures, hoping that no matter where you are in the world you can enjoy the YBS lifestyle. Thank you for all your support and see you in the deep blue!”

As for this specific encounter, it seems everything turned out okay. According to one commenter:

“He's totally fine.”

How ‘bout the turtle though?
