Video: Koa Rothman Braves 'Freezing' Perfect Barrels on the North Shore

Cold water surfing footage has been flowing our way a lot lately.

Creed McTaggart and Jai Glindeman road-tripped through Africa in a recent edit. A snowboarder had a "rowdy" surf session on choppy, snow-framed Lake Tahoe, and Ben Gravy recapped the "swell of a lifetime" he surfed in the Midwest.

In Koa Rothman's latest vlog below, he battles huge surf, imaginary sharks, and a "freezing" session at Rocky Point, humoring his viewers who brave actual ice-cold conditions to get a wave

Rothman caption the video above:

"SURFER’S BATTLE GIANT WAVES AND INTENSE CURRENT! How to clear a crowded lineup? Just yell SHARK haha."

In the vlog, Rothman makes the rounds, surfing different spots on the North Shore, starting with Rocky Point.

After the session, he recaps:

"Sick, sick, session.

"Freezing out there. I know, I know a lot of you guys are in cold places and I'm here in Hawaii but, honestly, it's really cold.

"Because you think it's all hot and warm and then you jump in the water without a wetsuit, and all of a sudden, you're just frozen an hour and a half in.

But, really fun session. I'm super glad I went back out. I got some really fun waves."

And then, the responses to "freezing":

"I can’t stand it when this mf says he’s freezing"

"Lol Koa says it's freezing, I check Surfline and Pipeline is 79 degrees... here I am in SoCal and it's 60 and I'm considering it pretty warm. Warmest it gets here is like 74-76 in the summer ;)"

"Yeah, I always find that amusing also... 60 is the lower end of spring suit weather up here in Canada. Currently, water temps are around 35... Koa is surfing in bathwater haha..."

"Lol ikr. I’m from Maryland. I surfed in 47° water last week in my board shorts! Talk about cold."
