Indonesian surf legend Rizal Tanjung recently launched a vlog on a new YouTube channel called IndoMomentTV.

It follows the adventures of Rizal, his two ripper sons, and a cast of characters from near and far.

In the latest episode below, Rizal and his son surf 7 Ghosts, a river wave in Sumatra. The river pumps out a seemingly endless wave known to travel nearly 40 miles inland.

The video above is captioned:

"From the archives... watch as Rizal Tandjung and his son Varun travel to Sumatra on a mission to surf the Bono tidal river wave, nicknamed '7 Ghosts' for the mystical nature and local legends surrounding the seemingly endless waves that break there.

"The wave in the Kampar River can rise up to 10ft and travel up to 50km. In theory, you can ride this wave for more than 1 hour! These tidal bore waves come in just 1 set per day.

"In order to surf them, you have to wait for the set to come into the area. Once the set arrives, you have to catch them with jet-ski assist (as shown in the video). If you fall, you have to use the jet-ski to speed back to the same wave, and then make the drop again."

Weird wave lover Dylan Graves surfed 7 Ghosts last year and scored a "5-minute ride that allowed 40+ turns and a couple of airs."

Captioning his video, Graved explained that the Bono has "unique features known as 'whelps' that occur in undular tidal bores when a tidal wave front is followed by secondary waves... In this case there are 7, hence the name '7 ghosts.'"
