Vermont Ski Resort Holding On With "At Least 3 Feet" Of Base Depth

Sugarbush Resort, VT, provided a report on their current snow conditions to Instagram this morning. Officials wrote that currently, Sugarbush has "bluebird, spring conditions, and at least 3ft of snow depth on the majority of our snowmaking terrain."

The forecast shows 4-8" of snow from Saturday night through Monday, if not more.

Sugarbush's summit has a 40-inch base, the mid-mountain has 24 inches, and the base has 16 inches.

The resort has seen 165 inches of snowfall this season.

Temperatures at Sugarbush are currently 47 degrees at the base and 28 degrees at the summit. Those temps are projected to rise to the mid 30's at the summit and mid 40's at the base, softening the snow to corn-like snow.

Last night, the grooming team completed 41 trails, including Ripcord, Jester, and Spring fling. See these trails on the map below.

The morning report noted that the conditions on the ungroomed terrain, such as the natural trails and glades, are variable.

The Sugarbush PARKS crew made adjustments to Rimergasse and Slowpoke for two new park setups this morning. Sadly, features on Sugar Run were pulled last night in an effort to preserve snow, but Sugarbear Forest remains opened at Lincoln Peak.

In the next month, Sugarbush has a lot on tap to ring in Spring. Events such as the Pond Skim, Pride Weekend, the Sidesurfers Banked Slalom and the resort's annual, free Spring Fling concert are all on tap.

As for touring, all Lincoln Peak uphill travel routes are open. Skiers can use the Lincoln Peak uphill route from 4-7 AM, or the evening Lincoln Peak uphill route from 5-10 PM.

At this time, the uphill route at Mt. Ellen is closed due to a lack of snow.

All things considered, conditions are looking solid at Sugarbush, especially given the East Coast's warmer-than-usual winter this year. With 70 out of 111 trails open, 73% of terrain open, and 355 out of 484 acres of skiing open, there's still a lot to enjoy at the resort.
