Unruly passenger snaps iPhone in half after his behavior forces plane to make emergency landing

An allegedly drunk passenger forced a plane to make an emergency landing after he became aggressive toward crew and other travelers.

EasyJet flight EZY1805 was bound for Iceland from Manchester, England, on Monday night but was diverted to Edinburgh, Scotland, because of the incident.

A passenger posted on Twitter that a “drunken, aggressive” passenger was kicked off the plane when it made the emergency landing.

According to The Scottish Sun, the passenger started smoking an e-cigarette onboard and abusing passengers.

“I told him to stop being silly because he seemed drunk, and then he threatened me — although I think it may have been much more than just excess alcohol,” an eyewitness said.

Another passenger wrote on Twitter that the man then snapped his iPhone in half, which caused the battery to emit smoke.

The airline confirmed events to the BBC, saying the cabin crew acted quickly to ensure the safety of passengers.

“Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behavior onboard,” easyJet said in a statement. “The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority.”
