Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of its 15,000th episode this week. Cast members past and present were on hand for the festivities, but one newcomer wasn’t able to make it after suffering an accident at home.

This Is What It Sounds Like When Doves Cry

Julie Dove, who recurs as busybody Connie on the Peacock soap opera took to social media to share her unfortunate mishap that kept her from joining her fellow castmates. “Happy 15,000 episodes to [Days of our Lives]!’ Dove posted on Instagram.

“I’m so proud to a part of Salem history. I was floored when I got my invite for the celebration,” she continues. (Check out our interview with Dove here in which she talked about her enthusiasm for playing Connie and how her being cast in the role came about.) “I spent a week preparing. I got a haircut. I had my brows done. I bought a new outfit. I was looking fabulous and thinking things are really falling into place when I then fell over the corner of my bed Tuesday afternoon.

“I hit the floor my glasses crushed my face, and I broke my kneecap. It’s a minor break no surgery needed,” Dove wrote. “I’m fine I just can’t drive. How did I trip? Well, I’m fostering this adorable puppy, and I knew she had pooped somewhere in the house. I couldn’t find it and it was driving me crazy. I could not see under the bed, so I moved it and that’s when I fell.”

Dove shared some pictures of her injury and recovery in the post below. Attending soap soirees is old hat for many, the Days of our Lives newcomer was truly looking forward to being a part of the festivities.

“The last photo is the broken blood vessel in my eye from crying all day yesterday when I realized I wouldn’t be attending any celebrations for a while,” she shares with a touch of wryness. “In all honestly I realized today the crying was actually because the fall was like a levee that broke open a flow of all the loss and grief [that] I’ve been holding in with my mama being gone a year and my sweet Chula 1 month.

“Lesson learned is [stuff] happens but maybe be careful if you go looking for it,” she says, philosophically. “To my DAYS family, it was an honor just to be invited.”

The good news is that it sounds like we’ll be seeing more of meddling Connie. “DAYS fans we’ve got some fun Connie coming soon,” she previews. “Love you all and I am so appreciative and grateful for everyone in my life.”

The Days of our Lives Instagram account posted: “We missed you, feel better soon!” Soap Hub also wishes Dove a continued recovery.
