Tortoiseshell Cat Who Loves Taking Showers Is Proving Cat Stereotypes Wrong

Whether you're a person or a cat, there are so many wonderful ways to de-stress and take care of yourself. Whether it's a nap in the sunshine or just a good stretch, self-care doesn't have to be over-the-top. In that sense, there's quite a lot owners can learn from their pets! Animals can inspire us to slow down and be present, but sometimes, pets learn from their owners, too.

Pym, the tortoiseshell cat, for example, loves to take showers! She's not like other cats who simply groom themselves and then call it a day (there's nothing wrong with that either); she's a self-care queen! Every Sunday evening, Pym indulges in a relaxing shower under her owner's supervision, and it's just about the sweetest thing. She looks completely at peace while under the water stream!

Aww! This Tortoiseshell kitty couldn't possibly be any cuter with her bright pink nose and calm energy. Her upright and slowly twitching tail is a surefire sign that she's enjoying her time in the shower, but I have a feeling most people could tell simply from the look on her face. Besides, she's a cat, and cats won't walk into the shower and sit in the water unless they want to!

"She was definitely a person who sat on their front porch when it rained in her past life," wrote one commenter. I couldn't agree more! It's certainly unusual to see any pet who loves showers enough to make them a weekly tradition just for fun, but Pym's 'Sunday Soggies' could put a smile on anyone's face.

Do Cats Hate Water, Or Is It Just a Stereotype?

I know what you're thinking--don't cats hate getting wet? That's definitely what I've heard before! In fact, that's a stereotype I've heard of all my life, but the reality is a bit different. Even though there are many cats who are drama-queens at bathtime because they hate water, there are also plenty of felines who don't mind taking a dip to cool off, just like Pym!

Some of the cats who tend to tolerate and even enjoy water include the Maine Coon, the Turkish Van, and the Abyssinian cat. That's because these cats have water-resistant fur that won't weigh down when wet. Of course, breed isn't the only factor that determines whether a cat enjoys getting wet, but it can certainly be one of them.

Whether or not Pym, the 'shower cat,' has ancestry in any of these breeds, there's no doubt about how she feels in the shower. It seems like she found the purr-fect way to relax, and it's just the cherry on top that her viewers get to fight off the Sunday scaries with her videos, too!
