It's been five years since Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford co-hosted Today's fourth hour together, but the two just surprised fans in a way that feels very on-brand.

During a March 26 taping of the morning show, Hoda and Savannah Guthrie were delighted when Kathie decided she'd stop by 30 Rockefeller Plaza for a quick appearance. The women got around to chatting on-camera, with thrilled fans surrounding Hoda and Kathie during the ultimate TV reunion. What's more, Kathie's surprise visit wasn't limited to the on-air broadcast — the show's social team captured a behind-the-scenes clip of the moment and shared a sweet Instagram post the same day.

"When you reunite with your bestie and it's like no time has passed 🫶," the official caption read over the snippet.

When folks caught wind of Kathie and Hoda's unexpected TV hangout, they immediately began raving about seeing the duo back in action.

"These [two] were my favorite tv team ever ❤️," one person rejoiced on Instagram. "This duo 🥹🤞🌟," another wrote. "So glad that she did 👏," a different follower penned.

Some fans even shared thoughts on how they could see Kathie and Hoda back together onscreen againin the future. "I miss Kathie Lee so much with Hoda. Please try and get her back on a regular basis or at least fill in when Jenna is off. Just need to see her back with Hoda.❤️❤️❤️," one person begged. "They need to bring her back!!" another added.

As fans may remember, Hoda and Kathie hosted Today's fourth hour from 2018 until Kahie exited the morning show in 2019. She was then replaced by Jenna Bush Hager, with the segment being renamed from Today With Kathie Lee and Hoda to Today With Hoda and Jenna.

During the same appearance, Kathie reflected on her time working with Hoda during the fourth hour. She had nothing but fond memories about the experience.

"The most fun thing for me when I was here with you was watching you become that Hoda," she shared on the air. "I remember saying to you, 'If you can be the same person on the air with me, Hoda, as you are here in the hair and makeup, we're gonna have a hit show!'"
