Workout shorts are a must if you regularly go to the gym or, well, workout. But shorts made for movement and working out aren’t just great for gym time; they’re great, everyday shorts that offer comfort and style. They can get a bit repetitive on the style front, though. So if you’re looking for active shorts that are different than most of the other ones on the market, Target’s newest pleated side shorts are for you (and it’s a plus that they look so similar to Free People shorts that are twice the price).

The unique shorts mentioned above are the Women's High-Rise Pleated Side Shorts 2.5" from one of Target’s workout brands, JoyLab. It’s currently $24 and comes in a rainbow of colors; nine total solid colors, from green to purple, taupe to orange, and more. And they come in sizes XS to XXL. They’re high-rise shorts with an elastic waistband with a drawstring, and they’re made from a “midweight jersey material with stretch” which is a mix of mostly recycled polyester and some spandex.

The thing that makes these unique is the fun pleated sides. Target’s site says that the shorts’ “flowy pleated sides… give you extra room as you move, bend or stretch.” They also have an inner lining that prevents the flowy shorts from revealing more than you’d like them to. And shoppers seem to enjoy them.

One review is titled "Get them" and they wrote, “I absolutely love them. I very rarely wear shorts and I feel so comfortable in these.” They already parched black and olive green but might go back for a third taupe pair.

“Perfect for spring break in FL,” they continued. “I will be wearing these all summer!"

Another shopper wrote that these were "very cute and different" and yet another wrote that they “overwhelmingly approved [the shorts] for all my fellow curvy girls.”

“THERE’S SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!!” they enthusiastically wrote. “I can kick and squat and twirl to my heart's delight and none of my business shows!”

As we stated at the top, these shorts are unique but do resemble Free People’s Easy Tiger Shorts, which are currently $48. Despite the pictures, it’s listed as high-rise, “billowy shorts” with an elastic waistband. The biggest differences include the fact that they’re made from 100% polyester and they’re not a fully solid color; they have piping on the seams that are a contrasting color.

For $24, being able to buy uniquely cute workout shorts that seem to fit most body types well (and comfortably) seems like a good deal, making Target’s Women's High-Rise Pleated Side Shorts a good spring must-have.
