Tahoe Skier 'Makes The Most Of The Hot Pow'

Powder is not created equal. There is cold, fluffy, champagne powder, middle-of-the-road clumpy-but-still-light snow, and then there is Sierra cement.

Tahoe is so infamous for this type of powder there's even an affectionate name for it. But that doesn't mean everyone who skis it despises it, like Andy Hays at Palisades Tahoe, CA. Watch below.

Hays writes, "it isn't every day that you get splashed in the face on the landing." But it is a spring special.

Hays is no stranger to Tahoe's terrain or its variable snow. I mean, even he admitted the below line might be his best line in "the last 5 years" (although we bet that's changed by now) off the Palisades. Watch below.

Andy posted the "splashed in the face clip" on Sunday, when Palisades Tahoe had seen 2 inches overnight, 3 inches in the last 24 hours, and 23 inches over the last week.

He tagged #springskiing. It's true; even though the snow may be a little wet, we can't complain about "hot pow". March was deemed a miracle by many resorts across both American coasts for good reason. Feet upon feet of snow stacked up late season, and with the warming temps, at least there's some room for melting.

At any rate, Hays knows where to go to score. At the end of the day, that's what counts on a powder day, no matter what kind of snow it is or where you are, in-bounds or otherwise.
