Meghan Markle; Wendell Pierce

Meghan Markle might not have been present for the mini Suits reunion at the 2024 Golden Globes—but one of her former cast mates still has her back.

Suits actor Wendell Pierce recently came to the defense of the Duchess of Sussex, who was notably absent when Gina Torres, Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty and Gabriel Macht gathered together for the Hollywood award show last weekend.

But while her absence has raised eyebrows and prompted some trolls to send shade her way, Markle's former TV dad is making a point to stick up for her.

Pierce—who played the father of Markle's character Rachel Zane on the legal drama—recently spoke about the drama surrounding the duchess. "The thing about it is, I know she has [Prince] Harry, right?" he told Page Six while attending the National Board of Review Annual Gala on Thursday, Jan. 11.

"And of course the beautiful kids," Pierce added, referring to Markle's two kiddos with Prince Harry: son Prince Archie, 4, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 2.

"That's the most important thing," Pierce said of Markle's family. "Everything else is just...outside of that means nothing."

Pierce, 60, has also made sure to keep a solid relationship with Markle since she left Suits in 2018. In fact, The Wire actor said he got to catch up with the former actress and Prince Harry just "a couple of months ago."

"It was great," he said about the recent meet-up, adding that he took the opportunity to remind the couple "that no matter where they are in the world, I'm their friend. I love her."

Pierce's relationship with Markle seems to be much different from other Suits alums, who apparently don't even have her number anymore.

During the Golden Globes red carpet, Torres—who played Jessica Pearson on the hit show—claimed that the group excluded Markle from the reunion because none of them have her phone number.

"We just don't," Torres said last weekend.
